Sandy Johnson, LCSw

Sandy Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and therapeutic yoga teacher (RYT-200) specializing in children, adolescents and families. Her experience addresses a range of needs that include anxiety, depression, family/peer relationships, social functioning, post traumatic stress and complex trauma.

Sandy received her master's degree from New York University and her yoga certification from Integrative Yoga Therapy. Sandy earned her training in EMDR (Eye Movement Rapid Desensitization) through EMDRIA and is currently working toward EMDRIA certification. Sandy recently became an IFS (Internal Family Systems) Informed Therapist through the IFS Institute.

She has worked extensively with families involved in the child welfare system, as well as in the local community. Sandy believes that healing is fostered through relationship, awareness, and acceptance.   She is committed to providing a mutually respectful environment where each individual may safely address their challenges and develop the skills to experience a more authentic, joyful life.    

Sandy is trained in Educator Essentials by MindfulSchools.org and teaches mindfulness to educators and children in a local urban school.  Sandy also trained with Allison Morgan, MA, OTR, RYT  of Zensational Kids, and  Radiant Child Yoga,  with a focus on addressing the emotional, cognitive, and/or behavioral needs of children.   

Sandy offers individual,  family, and group counseling as well as one-on-one and small group therapeutic yoga nidra sessions (see Mindfulness & Therapeutic Yoga).
